Giannis Antetokounmpo ‘Focused’ On Getting Traded By Milwaukee Bucks To Miami Heat

DHJ Quick Take: Giannis Locking in on Miami

  • Focused Destination: Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is explicitly “focused” on orchestrating a trade to the Miami Heat, a preference simplified by the fact that he and Heat cornerstone Bam Adebayo are represented by the same agent, Alex Saratsis of Octagon.
  • The Trade Package: Miami’s projected blockbuster offer to Milwaukee is reportedly built around a collection of young talent and draft capital, featuring Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and the No. 13 overall pick in the upcoming draft.
  • Imminent Resolution: The clock is ticking on a final decision, as the Bucks are widely expected to officially trade the multi-time MVP before the 2026 NBA Draft kicks off on June 23.

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is “focused” on getting traded to the Miami Heat, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

Antetokounmpo and Heat All-Star Bam Adebayo have the same agent, Alex Saratsis (Octagon).

Miami’s offer to Milwaukee for Antetokounmpo is believed to be built around Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and the 13th overall pick in this year’s draft.

The Bucks are expected to trade Antetokounmpo before the 2026 draft, which starts on June 23.

Antetokounmpo has also been linked to the Boston Celtics, who are willing to trade Jaylen Brown to get The Greek Freak.

Multiple sources have told Dallas Hoops Journal that Antetokounmpo wants to play for an East Coast team because the East Coast is close to Greece. Antetokounmpo’s wife and children don’t live with him in America during the NBA season. They reside in Greece.

Miami and Boston are on the East Coast.

Antetokounmpo will make $58.5 million next season. He has a player option worth $62.8 million for the 2027-28 season. The Bucks signed Antetokounmpo to a three-year, $175 million extension in 2023. The star forward doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract.

A future Hall of Famer, Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP, one-time Finals MVP, one-time Defensive Player of the Year and 10-time All-Star. He has been in the NBA since 2013. The 31-year-old won back-to-back MVPs in 2019 and 2020 and became the third player in NBA history to win MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season in 2020.

The Heat and Bucks missed the playoffs this season. Milwaukee has been open for business on trade calls and offers for Antetokounmpo, who feels the time has come for him and the franchise to part ways.

Miami has been looking for a superstar ever since LeBron James left South Beach in 2014. Let’s see if Hall of Famer Pat Riley can finally get Antetokounmpo this offseason.
