Nikola Jokić Wants To Spend Entire NBA Career With Denver Nuggets: ‘I Found My Life Here’

Three-time MVP Nikola Jokić wants to spend his entire NBA career with the Denver Nuggets.

During his Serbian podcast appearance on X&O’s Chat, Jokić said he doesn’t want to leave the Nuggets.

“I wouldn’t like to imagine that,” Nikola Jokić said. “Even if we never win anything else after this, an organic title, it means more to me than anything. I really found peace here. My two kids were born here. Everyone’s here. Peace, home, I found my life here. And I like life here. I don’t feel the need, I don’t have the urge to. We built something here, together as a team.”

The Nuggets selected Jokić with the 41st overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Jokić guided Denver to the 2023 championship against the Miami Heat. The 31-year-old is one of the greatest basketball players of all time and will make the Hall of Fame one day.

Jokić holds career averages of 22.2 points, 11.0 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game. He’s first in NBA history in player efficiency rating and second in triple-doubles.

The Nuggets can sign Jokić to an extension after this offseason. A deal is expected to get done.

“I’ll play as long as I can,” Nikola Jokić said. “That’s it. You know… Like ‘Til I Collapse,’ as Eminem says. Well actually, maybe not exactly as long as I can, but as long as I see that I’m creating an advantage and that I can play at a high level. You know… I don’t know… that’s my opinion right now. Next time, when I’m here again, when I do another interview, I might already say: ‘I’ll play until I break everything.’”

Jokić is averaging a triple-double this season. He’s putting up 28.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 10.3 assists per game for the Nuggets, who are in sixth place in the Western Conference standings.
