WATCH: Paige Bueckers Reacts to Being Named WNBA All-Star Starter as a Rookie

Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers didn’t need long to make a national impact — and on Monday, that meteoric rise was cemented when she received the news directly from general manager Curt Miller: she’s a 2025 WNBA All-Star starter.
“Wow. Thanks, Curt,” Bueckers said on the call, pausing to take in the moment after hearing she would make the All-Star team and start in the midseason showcase during her first professional season.
The No. 1 overall pick in April’s WNBA Draft, Bueckers becomes the latest rookie to earn All-Star starter honors, joining Caitlin Clark, Allisha Gray, and Sabrina Ionescu in the All-Star backcourt pool. Clark and Napheesa Collier were named team captains for the July 19 matchup in Indianapolis, determined by fan vote.
Miller praised Bueckers during the call, saying, “It’s just a great start for you and such a credit to the complete player that you are and how you impact everybody around you.”
That impact has been immediate. Bueckers leads all rookies in both points (18.4) and assists (5.8) per game, while averaging 4.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals. She ranks among the league’s top 15 overall in scoring and has scored 20 or more points in six games, including four times in her last five contests. She erupted for a career-high 35 points at Phoenix on June 11 and dished out 10 assists at Minnesota on May 21.
She also became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 200 points, 50 rebounds, and 50 assists, hitting the mark in 11 games. Her poise, creativity, and vision have quickly made her the offensive engine of a Wings team managing key absences and lineup transitions.
Fan enthusiasm matched her on-court excellence. Bueckers finished second among guards in fan voting and ranked in the top five among media and player ballots. Her final weighted score of 3.25 was the best among all backcourt players.
The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game will be played July 19 at 8:30 p.m. ET from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, airing on ABC, Disney+, and ESPN+. The All-Star reserves, chosen by WNBA head coaches, will be announced on July 6.
For Bueckers and the Wings, the recognition signals more than just an individual achievement — it’s another milestone in what’s shaping up to be a historic rookie season and the beginning of a new era in Dallas.
