Stephen Curry Held Out Of Scrimmage, Golden State Warriors Insist There’s No Setback

Golden State Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry isn’t ready to return from his injury yet.

According to the Warriors, Curry didn’t scrimmage with the team on Sunday (3/22) in Atlanta.

Curry is dealing with runner’s knee in his right knee. He hasn’t played since January 30.

A future Hall of Famer, Curry has played in just 39 games this season. He’s averaging 27.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists per contest while shooting 46.8% from the field, 39.1% from beyond the arc and 93.1% from the free-throw line.

The last time we heard from Curry was on February 28. He spoke with Malika Andrews of ESPN about his knee injury during an in-game interview against the Los Angeles Lakers.

“This is a weird one,” Curry said. “It’s kind of unpredictable how it’ll heal. It’s going to be a little longer. Right now, with this one, it’s about each day can you stack good days? I’ve done that. Hopefully they can unleash me on the court soon and hopefully get back sooner than later.

“Trying to stay in shape, strengthen everything else around the body, knowing at this stage, once you get back, it’s a full sprint to the playoffs. Once I get back on the court, it’s a little bit of a pain tolerance thing. But it’s just something you don’t want lingering because it can get worse.”

The Warriors could miss the playoffs this season. As of this writing, they are in 10th place in the Western Conference standings. The 10th seed needs to win two NBA play-in games to make the playoffs as the eighth seed.

The NBA’s all-time leader in 3-pointers, Curry turned 38 on March 14. He has one year left on his contract after this season. The four-time champion has been in the NBA since 2009.
