Jalen Duren Wants To Leave Detroit Pistons For Sacramento Kings

Jalen Duren wants to leave the Detroit Pistons for the Sacramento Kings, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.

Duren is a restricted free agent. He plans to meet with Sacramento with the intention of structuring a sign-and-trade out of Detroit.

Duren was underwhelmed by the Pistons’ initial offer in restricted free agency, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic. The one-time All-Star averaged 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game this past season while shooting 65.0% from the field. He recorded 41 double-doubles.

Amick reports that the Kings could trade Domantas Sabonis to the Pistons. Sabonis will make $45.5 million next season. The three-time All-Star averaged 15.8 points and 11.4 rebounds per game for the Kings this past season in 19 appearances.

The Pistons beat the Orlando Magic in the first round of this year’s playoffs in seven games but lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round in seven games. Duren, 22, averaged only 10.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game against the Magic and Cavaliers.

A Memphis product, Duren was the 13th overall pick in the 2022 draft. He holds career averages of 13.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game in the regular season.

The Kings missed the playoffs again this past season. They went 22-60. Sacramento selected Darius Acuff Jr. with the seventh overall pick in this year’s draft. The franchise is in deep, deep rebuild mode.

As of this writing, the Kings’ roster is headlined by Sabonis, Acuff Jr., Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Keegan Murray.
