Kristaps Porziņģis is staying with the Golden State Warriors.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the 2024 NBA champion has agreed to a two-year, $40 million deal with the Warriors.
The Warriors acquired Porziņģis from the Atlanta Hawks this past season in the Jonathan Kuminga trade. Porziņģis appeared in just 15 games with Golden State. He averaged 16.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting 43.3% from the field, 31.1% from beyond the arc and 84.4% from the foul line.
Golden State missed the playoffs this past season. The franchise hasn’t advanced past the second round of the playoffs since 2022. That’s the year Stephen Curry led the Warriors to the championship against the Boston Celtics.
Porziņģis, 30, has played for the New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, Celtics, Hawks and Warriors. He enters next season with career averages of 19.5 points and 7.6 rebounds in the regular season and 11.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in the playoffs. Porziņģis helped the Celtics win the 2024 title against the Mavericks.
The Warriors, who have won four championships in the Curry era, have been heavily linked to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. For more on that story, click here.
