The Detroit Pistons have announced that Cade Cunningham has been diagnosed with a left lung pneumothorax.
Cunningham will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
The Pistons, who are in first place in the Eastern Conference, have 14 games left in the regular season. It will be fascinating to see if they can continue to win games without their best player.
Cunningham is putting up MVP numbers this season. He’s averaging 24.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 9.9 assists per game while shooting 46.1% from the field, 34.6% from beyond the arc and 81.4% from the free-throw line.
The Pistons selected Cunningham with the first overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. The two-time All-Star holds career averages of 22.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 7.9 assists per game.
