Chris Paul Reveals New Update on Retirement Plans
Future Hall of Famer Chris Paul may retire from the NBA after next season. Paul, 40, played for the San Antonio Spurs last season. He’s not expected to return to the Spurs and remains a free agent.
When asked how much longer he plans to play in the NBA, Paul revealed that he intends to play for just one more season as he emphasizes his desire to spend more time with his family.
“At the most, a year,” Paul said. “I just finished my 20th season, which is a blessing in itself.”
One of the greatest players in NBA history, Paul appeared in all 82 games for the Spurs last season. He averaged 8.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 7.4 assists while shooting 42.7% from the floor, 37.7% from beyond the arc, and 92.4% from the free-throw line.
A 12-time All-Star, Paul has played for the New Orleans Hornets, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors and Spurs. He has made nine All-Defensive Teams and 11 All-NBA Teams.
A top 75 player of all time, Paul has career averages of 17.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 9.2 assists. He won the 2006 Rookie of the Year Award with the Hornets.
Paul has only been to the NBA Finals once. His Suns lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021 in six games. Phoenix blew a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Paul has been linked to the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Clippers, and Milwaukee Bucks this offseason. The veteran is second in NBA history in assists.
Most people around the NBA expect Paul to sign with the Suns or Clippers so he can be close to his family.
