NBA teams are paying close attention to how Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis looks after his calf injury, according to Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.

Davis has appeared in just 13 games this season because of a left calf injury. He’s averaging 19.9 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 50.9% from the field, 30.8% from beyond the arc and 71.4% from the free-throw line.

“That evaluation has also been tied to how Anthony Davis has looked since returning from his calf strain — a checkpoint rival teams have been watching closely as the Mavericks’ direction comes into sharper focus,” Afseth wrote. “After easing back into the rotation, Davis has shown a clear uptick in both workload and effectiveness. Over his last four games, he is averaging 23.0 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, reinforcing the two-way presence Dallas relies on when fully healthy. He punctuated that stretch Saturday in Philadelphia with a 24-point, 15-rebound double-double, anchoring the interior on both ends.”

The Mavericks are exploring the trade markets for Davis, Daniel GaffordKlay Thompson and D’Angelo Russell, sources said. Davis has been in trade rumors ever since Nico Harrison was fired as general manager.

A future Hall of Famer, Davis has played in only 22 games with the Mavericks since the blockbuster Luka Dončić trade last season. The Brow is averaging 20.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.9 blocks per game in a Dallas uniform.

Davis is eligible for a four-year, $275 million maximum extension in August. The former Los Angeles Lakers big man is making $54.1 million this season. He’ll make $58.5 million next season and has a player option worth $62.8 million for the 2027-28 season.

The Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks are interested in trading for Davis, sources said.

When he’s healthy, Davis is an elite two-way force. It will be fascinating to see if the Chicago native gets traded this season.
