Dallas Mavericks Open To Exploring Trade Markets For Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, Klay Thompson, D’Angelo Russell

According to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN, the Dallas Mavericks are open to exploring the trade markets for Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, Klay Thompson and D’Angelo Russell.
The Mavericks could overhaul their roster after firing general manager Nico Harrison.
“The Mavericks are open to exploring the trade markets for Anthony Davis, center Daniel Gafford and guards Klay Thompson and D’Angelo Russell, sources said,” Charania wrote. “Davis’ agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, has met with Mavericks interim co-general managers Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi and requested clarity about whether the franchise wants to extend Davis in the offseason or trade him ahead of the deadline. Finley and Riccardi stated the franchise wants to keep its options open and view how the team plays for the next few weeks. They have not ruled out the possibility of an extension.”
The Mavericks are 9-16. They are in 11th place in the Western Conference standings.
Davis, Thompson and Gafford can be traded at any point. Meanwhile, Russell can’t be traded until December 15.
Davis is making $54.1 million this season, Thompson is making $16.7 million, Gafford is making $14.4 million and Russell is making $5.7 million.
Davis has appeared in just 19 games with the Mavericks since the blockbuster Luka Dončić trade last season. The big man is averaging 19.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.9 blocks per game in a Dallas uniform.
A Kentucky product, Davis has played in only 10 games this season because of a left calf injury. He’s averaging 19.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.6 blocks per game.
Gafford is averaging 8.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. He signed an extension with the Mavericks in the offseason, but Gafford is widely regarded as the most tradeable Maverick, sources told DallasHoopsJournal.
Thompson, who turns 36 in February, is averaging a career-low 11.0 points per game this season. The five-time All-Star comes off the bench for Jason Kidd.
Russell, who played with Davis on the Lakers, is averaging 11.2 points and 4.3 assists per game. He signed with the Mavericks in the offseason and has already rubbed several teammates the wrong way with his approach in practice and lackadaisical effort on defense, sources said.
