Dallas Wings Injury Report

The Wings (6–13) remain without four key players:

Harris is out for the season. Carrington and Ogunbowale did not travel to Phoenix and are also expected to miss Wednesday’s game in Chicago. Siegrist made the trip and has progressed to light on-court work but remains without a clear return timeline.

Phoenix Mercury Injury Report

The Mercury (12–6) will be without three important contributors:

Copper scored a season-high 33 points in last Thursday’s loss to Dallas. Sabally remains day-to-day, while Held is sidelined indefinitely with a collapsed lung. Phoenix enters Monday trying to avoid the season’s first three-game losing streak.

Rookie Breakout Leads Dallas

The Wings stunned Phoenix with a 98–89 win in Arlington last week, powered by their 2025 rookie class. Aziaha James scored a career-high 28 points and added six rebounds and six assists. JJ Quinerly finished with 17 points and seven assists. Paige Bueckers tallied 23 points in her return to the lineup.

The Wings became the first WNBA team since 2000 to start four rookies—James, Quinerly, Bueckers, and Luisa Geiselsöder—alongside center Li Yueru.

“We came out and punched first,” Quinerly said. “We got up the floor quick, got into transition, and got some quick shots up. That gave us confidence, and we just kept building.”

Momentum on the Rise

After beginning the season 1–11, Dallas has now won five of its last seven games. The team has leaned on its rookie core to carry the offensive load while missing several veterans to injury.

“This league’s competitive,” Bueckers said. “We’ve had games where we fought back, but now we want to bring that fight for the full 40 minutes.”

Frontcourt Balance

Yueru posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds against Phoenix, going 10-for-12 from the free-throw line. Teaira McCowan contributed nine points in her return from national team duties, while Geiselsöder added four points and four rebounds. Dallas emphasized high-low action in the post, helping relieve pressure from the perimeter.

“It’s definitely timing. You have to know when to go and the next option to look for,” McCowan said. “I think that’s the biggest part we’re emphasizing right now — take the first cutter, the second cutter, and then just look for the open man.”

What to Expect Monday

With Copper and Sabally out, Phoenix will be without its top two scoring options. Dallas, meanwhile, is searching for consistency and a chance to sweep the two-game set after one of its most complete performances of the season.

“They’ll be ready. They’ll adjust,” Koclanes said of the Mercury. “The question now is—how do we respond to success? Can we take this and raise our level again?”

What’s Next

After Monday’s matchup, the Wings will head to Chicago to face the Sky on Wednesday night (7 p.m. CT, KFAA29). They return to Texas for a high-profile meeting with the Indiana Fever at American Airlines Center on Sunday, July 13.
