The Dallas Wings have waived center Aaronette Vonleh as they continue to trim their roster ahead of the 2025 WNBA season opener, the team announced Tuesday. The team now has 15 remaining players, facing a requirement to waive at least three more.
Vonleh, the Wings’ 31st overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, appeared in training camp but was released as Dallas approaches the league’s May 15 deadline to finalize its 12-player roster.
The 6-foot-3 center played one season at Baylor, averaging 14.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game on 58.5% shooting while earning second-team All-Big 12 honors. Despite her efficient production in college, Vonleh could not carve out a role in a frontcourt rotation anchored by Teaira McCowan.
The Wings began their roster cuts earlier this week, waiving forwards Mikiah Herbert Harrigan and McKenzie Forbes following their preseason opener against the Las Vegas Aces.
Herbert Harrigan, a 6-foot-2 wing and 2020 first-round pick, has appeared in 53 WNBA games and is known for her shot-blocking ability. Forbes, a versatile guard-forward, spent last season overseas after being waived by the Los Angeles Sparks.
Head coach Chris Koclanes acknowledged the difficulty of the final roster decisions during Monday’s practice.
“It’s hard. These last cuts aren’t going to be easy,” he said. “Lots of conversations with our GM group about what the roster’s going to look like and what players nine through 12 can add and bring to our culture in such a foundational year. You balance the on-court with some of the intangibles and look at it holistically.”
Dallas continues training camp this week before its final preseason game on May 10 against Japan’s Toyota Antelopes. Final roster decisions are expected shortly after as the team prepares for its May 16 regular-season opener against the Minnesota Lynx.
