The Dallas Mavericks return home Wednesday night looking to stop their recent slide when they face the Phoenix Suns at American Airlines Center. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT, with the game airing locally on KFAA-29 and via MavsTV Stream.

Dallas (3–8) enters its first game since the organization parted ways with general manager Nico Harrison on Monday, a move Governor Patrick Dumont said was necessary to “move the franchise forward.” Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi are serving as co-interim general managers while the search for a permanent replacement begins.

The Mavericks nearly pulled off an upset against the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday but fell 116–114 despite a standout performance from Cooper Flagg, who finished with 26 points and nine rebounds. Jason Kidd’s team continues to battle offensive inconsistency, shooting a league-worst 29.5% from three-point range.

“Right now, we got a cold,” Kidd said. “I don’t think we’ve shot the three well all year. We just got to keep shooting them. If we can continue to create threes, they’ll fall for us at some point.”

Dallas Mavericks Injury Report

Phoenix Suns Injury Report

Cooper Flagg Finding His Rhythm Through Adversity

Flagg, who continues to play through a sprained thumb suffered against Washington, showcased fearlessness against Milwaukee — attacking Giannis Antetokounmpo at the rim in the final minute and converting a difficult layup through contact.

“It’s doing OK,” Flagg said. “It happened on one of the plays the last game. I was attacking the rim trying to dunk and hit the rim. A little thumb sprain. Nothing too crazy. Maybe I’ll tape my thumb every game.”

Flagg has started all 11 games this season, averaging 15.0 points and 6.1 rebounds, and has quickly earned Kidd’s trust as a late-game option.

“He plays to win,” Kidd said. “No matter who’s in front of him, he’s going to challenge.”

Brandon Williams Provides Stability, Cissé Brings Energy

With injuries reshaping the lineup, Brandon Williams has stepped in at point guard, contributing 19 points and improved tempo against Milwaukee.

“We’re definitely moving the ball, playing together,” Williams said. “That’s the most important thing. We’re playing real good team basketball.”

Meanwhile, two-way center Moussa Cissé continues to make his mark defensively, averaging 5.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks over the past five games.

“His energy, his vibe is so positive,” Kidd said. “And he competes on the defensive end.”

Scouting the Suns

The Suns (6–5) have won three straight and feature one of the league’s most efficient offenses. Devin Booker is averaging 28.4 points and 6.8 assists while shooting 51% from the field and 40% from three, supported by Grayson Allen at 19.0 points per game. Phoenix ranks among the NBA’s top eight teams in three-point shooting at 38.5%.

Dallas, conversely, ranks last from beyond the arc — a disparity that could define Wednesday’s matchup if Kidd’s group can’t find a way to rediscover its shooting touch.

What’s at Stake

The Mavericks have lost five of six but are encouraged by improved chemistry and pace despite the results. Kidd and his players view this homestand as a chance to reset and rediscover the defensive and offensive balance that powered last season’s Finals run.
