A massive blockbuster NBA trade proposal sending Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics to the Utah Jazz has been created.
In a column called “The Perfect 2026 Offseason Trade for Every NBA Team,” Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed that the Celtics trade Brown to the Jazz this offseason:
Utah Jazz Receive: G/F Jaylen Brown
Boston Celtics Receive: F Lauri Markkanen, G/F Ace Bailey, F/C Kyle Filipowski, 2027 first-round pick (via Los Angeles Lakers, top-4 protected)
“Danny Ainge is clearly trying to win next season, as evidenced by the trade deadline deal for Jaren Jackson Jr., Swartz wrote. “He should have strong interest in reuniting with Brown, who proved this season that he can be a No. 1 offensive option.
“If Brown doesn’t want to play a sidekick role alongside Jayson Tatum any longer, the Jazz would be an intriguing new home. Jackson, Keyonte George and Walker Kessler (restricted free agent) plus Utah’s 2026 first-round pick is a really good foundation.
“The Celtics get some help now and in the future. Markkanen is averaging 26.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals per game and should be in the prime of his career at age 28. Bailey was the No. 5 overall pick last summer and Filipowski, 22, is putting up 13.2 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists in his 30 starts. A lightly protected first-rounder from the Lakers next summer helps Boston part with Brown.”
This is a wild trade proposal. But then again, we saw the Dallas Mavericks trade Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Anything is possible in today’s NBA.
Brown will make $57.1 million next season. Let’s say the Celtics don’t win the championship this season. Maybe their new ownership group decides to lower their bill by trading Brown, who doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract.
The 2024 Finals MVP, Brown has spent his entire NBA career in Boston. He has made five All-Star teams and holds career averages of 19.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. Brown is putting up MVP numbers this season. He’s averaging 28.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists per contest.
Look, the odds of this trade happening are very, very low, but no one thought the Mavericks would ever part ways with Doncic. After the Doncic trade, the word “untouchable” went away.
