Jeff Teague Admits He Was ‘Joking’ About LeBron James Taking Steroids

Former NBA guard Jeff Teague caused a firestorm on Wednesday when he said Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James took steroids back in the day.
Teague quickly retracted the statement by saying he was “joking.”
The DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) briefly investigated LeBron James and cleared him of any wrongdoing as part of the 2013 Biogenesis investigation, according to federal documents obtained by ESPN’s Mike Fish. LeBron was on the Miami Heat in 2013.
Fans always accuse LeBron of taking steroids because he’s built like Superman and has never suffered a serious injury. However, there is no proof that the basketball icon has done anything illegal.
The leading scorer in NBA history, LeBron picked up his 2025-26 player option with the Lakers. He will make $52.6 million next season in the final year of his contract.
A four-time MVP, LeBron joined the Lakers in 2018. He guided the franchise to the 2020 championship against the Heat at the Walt Disney World bubble.
Los Angeles traded Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks last season for Luka Doncic. LeBron, who turns 41 in December, could retire from the NBA after next season.
A four-time Finals MVP, LeBron made the All-NBA Second Team and finished sixth in MVP voting last season. He may be the oldest active player in the league, but LeBron doesn’t play like an old man. He averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists in 2024-25.
Arguably the greatest player in NBA history, LeBron has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers (twice), Heat and Lakers. He’s the only player in league history to rank top five all-time in points and assists and win a Finals MVP Award with three franchises.
LeBron has career averages of 27.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists. He will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer one day.
