Los Angeles Clippers guard Bradley Beal has a fracture in his hip and will undergo season-ending surgery, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN.
Beal appeared in just six games this season. He signed with the Clippers in the offseason after getting bought out by the Phoenix Suns.
Beal’s agent, Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports, released the following statement to Charania:
“We met with numerous doctors and specialists around the country in collaboration with the entire Clippers medical staff over the last few days, and came to the decision unanimously that the surgery will allow Brad to have a full and complete recovery.”
Beal averaged 8.2 points per game this season while shooting 37.5% from the field, 36.8% from beyond the arc and 75.0% from the free-throw line.
The Clippers are 3-7. They have never reached the NBA Finals in franchise history and that will probably remain the case for a long time.
Beal has played for the Washington Wizards, Suns and Clippers. He has career averages of 21.4 points per game. The Florida product made three All-Star teams and one All-NBA team with the Wizards.
