Dallas Wings Downgrade Maddy Siegrist to Out, Will Not Dress vs. Indiana Fever

Dallas Wings forward Maddy Siegrist has been downgraded to out and will not dress for Friday night’s game against the Indiana Fever, a source tells DallasHoopsJournal.com. Siegrist was listed as questionable on the team’s official injury report but will remain sidelined as she continues to regain conditioning following what will now be an 18-game absence caused by a right knee injury.

Siegrist has been out since mid-June after recovering from an anterolateral tibial plateau fracture. She participated fully in Friday morning’s shootaround, raising optimism about a potential return. However, the Wings’ medical staff determined she is not ready for game action as she builds back conditioning.

The Wings had planned to evaluate Siegrist’s availability following shootaround, but a lack of recent 5-on-5 reps — caused by Thursday’s practice cancellation — played a factor in holding her out, as DallasHoopsJournal.com previously reported.

Head coach Chris Koclanes expressed earlier in the week that the team is eager to reintroduce Siegrist into a system that has seen improved spacing and ball movement over the past several games.

“Toughness, effort, a motor, and energy up and down the floor,” Koclanes told DallasHoopsJournal.com. “She’s also another good floor spacer and a really good off-ball cutter. I’m excited to get her in the mix with how the court’s been looking recently.”

Siegrist averaged 9.4 points and 5.2 rebounds in 11 games before the injury, ranking among league leaders in offensive rebounds (2.5) and second-chance points (3.5). Once she is cleared for a full return, her versatility at both forward positions will remain a key component of Dallas’ rotation plans.

“You can’t go from zero to a hundred, even though I probably drove the trainers crazy trying to do that,” Siegrist told DallasHoopsJournal.com. “It’s just about working your way back. I’m just looking forward to playing basketball again.”

The Wings will continue to monitor Siegrist’s progress, focusing on her conditioning and overall readiness. Her status for upcoming games will be determined as she progresses through rehab benchmarks.

Tipoff between the Wings and Fever is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT at American Airlines Center, and the game will air nationally on ION.
