Buzz Around NBA Is This Will Be LeBron James’ Final Season With Los Angeles Lakers

According to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, the buzz around the NBA is that this will be LeBron James‘ final season with the Los Angeles Lakers.
James, 40, becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season for the first time since 2018. It’s unclear whether the NBA legend will retire or continue playing.
“While general manager Rob Pelinka said before the season that he’d like LeBron James to retire with the Lakers, the buzz around the NBA is that this will be his final season in Los Angeles (whether he decides to continue playing or call it a career),” Pincus wrote.
James is the oldest active player in the NBA. He turns 41 on December 30. The future Hall of Famer has been in the league since 2003.
The leading scorer in NBA history, James joined the Lakers in 2018. He led the franchise to the 2020 championship against the Miami Heat. Los Angeles also reached the 2023 Western Conference Finals.
James has appeared in five games this season. He’s averaging 15.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game while shooting 46.0% from the field, 31.8% from beyond the arc and 55.0% from the free-throw line.
The Lakers are 15-5. They are in second place in the Western Conference standings.
Luka Dončić, who will miss the Toronto Raptors game because of the birth of his second child, leads the NBA in scoring. He’s averaging 35.3 points per game. Austin Reaves is also playing like an All-Star. The undrafted guard is averaging 28.1 points per game.
If James doesn’t retire after this season, it will be fascinating to see where he’s playing next season. The four-time champion has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers (twice), Heat and Lakers.
Since he’s from Akron, Ohio, James will always be linked to the Cavaliers. He’s the greatest player in Cleveland franchise history and will get his No. 23 jersey retired by the organization one day.
