One NBA analyst is proposing that the Boston Celtics trade for Sacramento Kings big man Domantas Sabonis.

Connor Thoms of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Celtics and Kings:

Boston Celtics get: Domantas Sabonis

Sacramento Kings get: Anfernee Simons, Sam Hauser, Georges Niang, Neemias Queta, two first-round NBA draft picks

The Celtics are looking to trade Simons and Niang after acquiring both players this offseason, NBA sources told DallasHoopsJournal. Boston got Simons from the Portland Trail Blazers in the Jrue Holiday trade and Niang from the Atlanta Hawks in the Kristaps Porzingis deal.

Sabonis is one of the best power forwards in the NBA. He appeared in 70 games for the Kings last season and averaged 19.1 points, 13.9 rebounds and 6.0 assists while shooting 59.0% from the field, 41.7% from beyond the arc and 75.4% from the free-throw line.

A three-time All-Star, Sabonis will make $42.3 million next season. The lefty signed a four-year, $186 million extension with the Kings in 2023. It was a renegotiation-and-extend deal.

Sacramento missed the playoffs last season for the second year in a row after making the postseason in 2023 for the first time since 2006. De’Aaron Fox was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in February. The Kings got Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls in the three-team Fox trade.

Sabonis doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract, but the Kings would probably only trade the 29-year-old if he requests a trade.

This trade idea would give the Celtics a talented core of Sabonis, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and Jayson Tatum. Even though Tatum is expected to miss all of next season recovering from his right Achilles tendon tear, Boston would be a championship contender in 2026-27 with Tatum, Sabonis, Brown and White leading the way.

Sabonis has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Pacers and Kings. He has career averages of 16.1 points, 10.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists.
