Dallas Wings’ Paige Bueckers Upgraded to Available vs. Connecticut Sun

Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers has been upgraded to available for Wednesday night’s matchup against the Connecticut Sun at College Park Center after missing Tuesday’s practice with an illness.

Bueckers went through shootaround earlier in the day and was initially listed as questionable. The rookie has been at the center of Dallas’ offense throughout the season, averaging 19.0 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.9 rebounds in 31 games. Her streak of 30 consecutive double-digit scoring performances ended Sunday in a road loss to the Golden State Valkyries.

Injuries Continue to Impact the Dallas Wings

The Wings (9-29) enter the contest still dealing with an extensive injury list. Tyasha Harris underwent knee surgery and was ruled out for the season after five games. JJ Quinerly is also out for the year after suffering an ACL sprain. Arike Ogunbowale remains sidelined with knee tendonitis. Li Yueru, acquired in a midseason trade, has also been declared out for the season due to an ACL sprain.

Myisha Hines-Allen missed Tuesday’s practice for personal reasons but was not included on the official injury report.

“This is the first year I’ve dealt with so many injuries during the season,” Hines-Allen said. “Everyone’s bodies are tired across the league, not just us. It’s part of the game, but somebody always steps up. Nobody feels sorry for us, so it’s about who puts on the jersey and gives energy, whether on the court or the bench.”

Hardship Pickups Provide Reinforcements for Paige Bueckers

Dallas recently turned to hardship contracts to help fill gaps. Serena Sundell, a two-time First Team All-Big 12 selection at Kansas State, joined the roster this week and had her first practice on Tuesday.

“I just want to come in with a great attitude and be that player that’s going to fill the gaps of whatever’s asked from me,” Sundell told DallasHoopsJournal.com.

Amy Okonkwo, another hardship addition, has already chipped in offensively, averaging 10.0 points across her first two appearances.

Connecticut (9-28), led by Eastern Conference Player of the Week Tina Charles, has had success playing in Dallas in recent years. With Bueckers now cleared to play, her presence could prove pivotal as the Wings aim to rebound from back-to-back losses.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
