Paige Bueckers has extended her standout debut season with another piece of history. The Dallas Wings guard was named WNBA Rookie of the Month for August, her third consecutive monthly award.

Bueckers becomes just the 10th player in WNBA history — and the first in Wings franchise history — to earn the honor three times.

The 6-foot guard averaged 20.3 points and 5.0 assists over 10 games in August, leading all first-year players in both categories. She also ranked fourth among all WNBA scorers for the month. Bueckers shot 49.7% from the floor and 93.6% from the free-throw line while contributing 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals.

Her month was punctuated by a record-breaking night in Los Angeles. On Aug. 20 against the Sparks, she scored 44 points — the most ever by a rookie in a single game. She shot 80.9% from the field, becoming the only player in league history to score at least 40 points on 80% shooting. The performance also marked the highest-scoring game by any WNBA player since 2023.

Bueckers continues to climb the record books as the regular season winds down. She ranks sixth all-time in rookie scoring and is eight points away from breaking Arike Ogunbowale’s Wings rookie scoring record. She has already set the franchise rookie assists mark and sits seventh in league history among rookies in that category.

Overall, Bueckers leads all rookies this season in scoring (18.9) and assists (5.3), while ranking second in steals (1.58). She is also the only WNBA player to appear in the top seven leaguewide in points (fifth), assists (seventh), and steals (sixth) per game.
