Utah Jazz Interested In Signing Los Angeles Lakers’ Austin Reaves

The Utah Jazz are interested in signing Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves, according to NBA insider Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

Reaves will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason after he declines his 2026-27 player option.

The Jazz acquired Jaren Jackson Jr. from the Memphis Grizzlies at this year’s NBA trade deadline. They are building around Jackson Jr., Lauri Markkanen, Keyonte George, Ace Bailey and Walker Kessler.

The Lakers are expected to do whatever it takes to keep Reaves, who has a close relationship with Luka Dončić and Los Angeles head coach JJ Redick. Reaves has said many times he wants to spend his entire NBA career with the Purple and Gold.

LeBron James is also close with Reaves, but it’s unknown if the NBA’s all-time leader in points and field goals will be on the Lakers next season. James becomes an unrestricted free agent this offsesaon. He may retire or return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

For the Lakers this season, Reaves is averaging 23.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game while shooting 49.5% from the field, 37.3% from beyond the arc and 87.6% from the free-throw line. The undrafted guard turns 28 in May.

Reaves has been in the NBA since 2021. He has career averages of 15.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. The Arkansas native is eligible to sign a five-year, $241 million deal with the Lakers or a four-year, $178.5 million deal with another team this offseason.

“I try not to think about it. Honestly. I’ve said it a million times. I want to be in L.A. I love it,” Austin Reaves told ESPN in November. “Even though the other extension was turned down, that doesn’t mean that I’m trying to go get a f—ing gigantic number that don’t make sense. I want to be here, I want to win. I want to do everything that can help this organization be better. So I don’t try to think about those things.”
