The Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat have continued their pursuit of LeBron James, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
James has played for the Cavaliers twice (2003-10, 2014-18) and the Heat once (2010-14). He’s a two-time MVP and one-time Finals MVP with Cleveland and a two-time MVP and two-time Finals MVP with Miami.
Cavaliers guards Donovan Mitchell and James Harden and Heat forwards Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo have recruited James this summer, sources told Dallas Hoops Journal. James, of course, is the best player in Cleveland history and will get his No. 23 jersey retired by the franchise one day.
Warriors legends Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are close friends of James. Curry and Green have revealed that they have recruited James to Golden State. James and Green also have the same agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group.
76ers guard Tyrese Maxey is also represented by Paul. James and Maxey are close friends and have trained together in the past. Maxey, Jaylen Brown and Joel Embiid have recruited James to Philadelphia, sources said.
Paul recently said on his podcast that James will not be rushed into making a decision.
“We’re not going to be rushed,” Paul said. “We’re not going to be rushed. It’s his choice to make and when he makes the choice, he’ll make it. … I think it’s important for people to understand: We’re not making this about attention and a spectacle. It’s not about a ‘Decision’ or anything like that. He has a choice to make. He has a business choice to make. We’re not going to sit here and decide or allow someone else to decide when he makes that decision. … It’s a business choice that he’s making. And I think as an athlete, why is it that an athlete has to rush his choice?”
James has been in the NBA since 2003. He’s a four-time MVP, four-time champion and four-time Finals MVP. The future Hall of Famer is the all-time leader in points, field goals, minutes and games. Many individuals consider James to be the greatest player in NBA history.
The only player in NBA history to rank top five all-time in points and assists, James holds career averages of 26.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game in the regular season and 28.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game in the playoffs with the Cavaliers, Heat and Los Angeles Lakers. He won the 2012 and 2013 championships with the Heat, the 2016 championship with the Cavaliers and the 2020 championship with the Lakers.
A 22-time All-Star and the only player in NBA history to win Finals MVP with three teams, James played in 60 regular-season games last season for the Lakers. He averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game. The all-world forward put up 23.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game in the 2026 playoffs in 10 games against the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder.
James, who has made 21 All-NBA teams, remains an elite performer despite being the oldest active player in the NBA, which is why so many teams are interested in signing him.
It will be intriguing to see where James is playing next season. The sports icon turns 42 in December.
