Caleb Martin and Brandon Williams were both seen on the court in practice gear during the Dallas Mavericks‘ shootaround Monday morning at the team’s practice facility, offering an encouraging sign ahead of tonight’s home game against the Golden State Warriors.
Dallas (23-48) has lost 11 consecutive home games dating back to Jan. 22 and three straight overall following Saturday’s 138-131 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Tonight, against a Golden State team playing the final leg of a 1-4 road trip and without Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Al Horford, and Seth Curry, the opportunity to snap that streak is as favorable as it has been in some time.
Caleb Martin, Brandon Williams Listed as Questionable, Doubtful
Martin, who has missed the last three games with a right heel contusion — initially classified by the team as right plantar fascia soreness before being reclassified — is listed as questionable. Even if he is available tonight, he figures to be limited in his role coming off the extended absence. In 58 games this season, the veteran forward has averaged 3.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 14.8 minutes per game.
Williams remains in the NBA’s concussion protocol and is listed as doubtful. He has missed the last two games, and his availability tonight will depend on whether he clears the protocol in time for tip-off. If he cannot go, Ryan Nembhard is expected to absorb most of his minutes off the bench.
Williams has been one of Dallas’s more productive reserves this season, averaging 12.8 points, 3.8 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 22.0 minutes across 60 games.
Kyrie Irving and Dereck Lively II remain out for the remainder of the season. Irving has not played since undergoing left knee surgery, and Lively II has been sidelined by right foot surgery. Both were ruled out for the year before Saturday’s game against the Clippers.
Golden State Warriors Injury Report
Golden State arrives having lost eight of its last nine, wrapping up a six-game road trip and playing without Curry, who has not suited up since Jan. 30 due to right patellofemoral pain syndrome. The Warriors are 6-15 this season without him. Butler III is also done for the season after suffering a right ACL tear in January.
Kristaps Porziņģis is probable with left low back tightness, De’Anthony Melton is probable with a left hand contusion, and Moses Moody is questionable with a right wrist sprain. Quinten Post is out with a right foot injury.
The Mavericks have won eight of the last nine meetings against Golden State in Dallas, including the last four, and took the most recent matchup 123-115 on Jan. 22 — the last time Dallas won at home.
Tip-off tonight is 8:30 p.m. CT at American Airlines Center on Peacock and NBC Sports Network.
