NBA legend Chris Paul is signing a one-year, $3.6 million deal with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Paul is expected to retire after next season.
This will be Chris Paul’s second stint with the Clippers. He played for the franchise from 2011-12 to 2016-17.
LAC guard James Harden and Paul were teammates on the Houston Rockets from 2017-18 to 2018-19. The future Hall of Famers led the Rockets to the 2018 Western Conference Finals, where Houston lost to the Golden State Warriors in seven games.
Paul played in all 82 games for the San Antonio Spurs last season. He averaged 8.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 7.4 assists while shooting 42.7% from the field, 37.7% from beyond the arc and 92.4% from the free-throw line.
One of the top point guards in NBA history, Paul has career averages of 17.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 9.2 assists with the New Orleans Hornets, Clippers, Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns, Warriors and Spurs.
Paul is second in NBA history in assists. He has yet to win a championship. CP3 and the Suns lost the 2021 championship to the Milwaukee Bucks in six games.
The Clippers have been busy this offseason. Along with signing Paul, they signed Bradley Beal and Brook Lopez and acquired John Collins from the Utah Jazz.
LAC is expected to start Harden, Beal, Kawhi Leonard, Collins and Ivica Zubac next season. The franchise has never been to the NBA Finals.
The Clippers lost to the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in seven games.
