Blockbuster NBA Trade Idea Sees Atlanta Hawks Acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo From Milwaukee Bucks

A blockbuster NBA trade idea where the Atlanta Hawks acquire Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has been created.

Connor Thoms of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea between the Hawks and Bucks:

Atlanta Hawks get: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Bucks get: Jalen Johnson, Zaccharie Risacher, Kobe Bufkin, four first-round picks, pick swap

This NBA trade idea would pair Antetokounmpo with All-Stars Trae Young and Kristaps Porzingis in Atlanta. That’s a deadly “Big 3” on paper in a wide-open Eastern Conference that will be without Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum next season.

NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN reported that Antetokounmpo was “open-minded” about leaving Milwaukee for the first time in his career after the Bucks lost to the Pacers in the first round of the 2025 postseason in five games. Antetokounmpo has spent his entire career with the Bucks. He was the 15th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.

Since Charania’s report came out, the Bucks have made several moves. The front office waived and stretched Damian Lillard, signed Myles Turner and Gary Harris and re-signed Bobby Portis, Kevin Porter Jr., Gary Trent Jr., Taurean Prince and Jericho Sims

Even in a wide-open Eastern Conference, the Bucks don’t look like a championship contender on paper, which is why many people around the NBA believe Antetokounmpo should request a trade this offseason.

Milwaukee reached the promised land in 2021, winning the championship against the Phoenix Suns in six games. However, the franchise has won only one postseason series since then.

Antetokounmpo is arguably the best player in the NBA. He made the All-NBA First Team last season, averaging 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.2 blocks in 67 games.

One of the top players in NBA history, Antetokounmpo will make $54.1 million next season. The Bucks signed The Greek Freak to a three-year, $175 million extension in 2023.

Antetokounmpo will make the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame one day. He’s a two-time MVP, a one-time Finals MVP, a one-time Defensive Player of the Year and a nine-time All-Star with career averages of 23.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks with the Bucks.

It will be intriguing to see if Antetokounmpo stays with Milwaukee or requests a trade.
