Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo And His Reps Reached Out To Bulls About Trade, Chicago Wasn’t Interested

According to Fox Chicago’s Lou Canellis, NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and his reps reached out to the Chicago Bulls about a trade.
However, the Bulls weren’t interested.
“I can tell you that Giannis and his representatives reached out to the Bulls about a potential deal and the Bulls said they weren’t interested,” Canellis said. “They were not interested in breaking up their young core or changing their course of direction that they have laid out with AK and Marc Eversley right now. Maybe things have changed.”
The Bulls haven’t made the playoffs since 2022. They traded Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2017, Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks in 2016, Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2024, Zach LaVine to the Sacramento Kings last season, DeMar DeRozan to the Kings in 2024 and Lonzo Ball to the Cleveland Cavaliers this past offseason.
Chicago’s current core is Josh Giddey, Coby White, Matas Buzelis and Ayo Dosunmu. The team is currently 9-12.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN, Antetokounmpo and his agent are having conversations with the Bucks about the power forward’s future.
Antetokounmpo doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract. The future Hall of Famer is making $54.1 million this season. He has a player option worth $62.8 million for the 2027-28 season.
A top 75 player of all time, Antetokounmpo led Milwaukee to the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns. Since then, the Bucks have won only one playoff series.
Antetokounmpo is a two-time MVP, one-time Finals MVP, one-time Defensive Player of the Year and nine-time All-Star. He holds career averages of 24.0 points, 9.9 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game.
The Bucks are just 10-13 on the season. They are in 10th place in the East and will likely drop in the standings since Antetokounmpo will miss time after suffering a right calf strain on Wednesday against the Detroit Pistons.
