The Sacramento Kings are expected to explore trades of their veteran players, some of whom have a disconnect with head coach Doug Christie, according to NBA insider Marc J. Spears of Andscape.

The Kings are only 6-20 despite having All-Stars Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Russell Westbrook.

“Sources told Andscape that there is a disconnect between some veteran Kings players and Christie and his coaching staff,” Spears wrote. “Sacramento is expected to explore making trades of its veteran players, a source told Andscape.”

LaVine has been linked to the Milwaukee Bucks, while DeRozan has been linked to the Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat.

Meanwhile, Sabonis and Westbrook haven’t been linked to any teams in trade rumors yet.

The Kings are 28th in the NBA in points per game, 27th in points per game allowed, 30th in offensive rating, 27th in defensive rating and 29th in net rating.

Sacramento made the playoffs in 2023 for the first time since 2006. The franchise missed the playoffs in 2024 and 2025 and traded All-Star point guard De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs last season.

“I don’t really have anything to say,” Fox said about the Kings. “It is what it is. I wish Keegan Murray the best. Whether that is rebuilding, I want him to be in the best situation for him. The grass is greener on this side.

“We go to the playoffs and after that you want to build upon that. And that doesn’t mean going from the third seed to the first seed. It just means continuing to be a playoff team. I didn’t feel like we were there. … Everything started going bad that summer [in 2024]. I’m in a place where I want to be [now].”
